2013-4. Review. Investigations of mega-structure at Trypillia Culture settlement near Nebelivka in 2012

Abstract
The article reports the results of the 2012 British–Ukrainian field season at the Trypillia mega-site near Nebelivka, focused on excavating a large anomaly identified by magnetometry. Excavations confirmed a c. 21–20 × 60 m "mega-structure" and documented an atypical plan, distinctive construction features, and an unusually rich set of interior elements, highlighting the architectural and social significance of communal buildings within Trypillia mega-sites.

A magnetometry anomaly measuring roughly 20 × 60 m at Nebelivka proved to be one of the most exceptional buildings yet excavated on a Trypillia mega-site. The 2012 investigations reveal a uniquely planned and richly furnished "mega-structure," opening new perspectives on communal architecture and early urbanism in prehistoric Europe.

In 2012 British-Ukrainian expedition continied investigations on Trypillia Culture settlement near Nebelivka. The main aim of field season were explorations of the largest object at the area, detected at 2012 by magnetic prospection with size near 20×60 m . Funding of the current investigations of the Nebelivka mega-structure Project was provided by AHRC (Grant No. AH/I025867: 2012 – 2016), as and the National Geographic Society (Grant No. 2012/211).  Results of excavations confirmed the size of the object and give possibility to get a lot of important information about this structure.

В 2012 году  украинско-британская экспедиция в рамках научно – исследовательского проекта «The Tripillia Mega-Sites Project (Early urbanism in prehistoric Europe: the case of the Tripillia mega-sites) продолжала исследования крупного трипольского поселения у с. Небелевка. Раскопки в Небелевке в 2012 году состоялись благодаря поддержке Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)[1] , а также National Geographic Society[2].
