2013-4. Review. History of Archaeology: scientists and centres (2012)

Abstract
This review presents the conference proceedings volume "History of Archaeology: Scientists and Centres" (Archaeology and Ancient History of Ukraine, No. 9, 2012), dedicated to the memory of Fedir Vovk (Volkov). It highlights the publication of documents from Vovk’s personal archive (including his curriculum vitae) and summarizes contributions that trace the development of archaeology across Poland, Russia, France, Romania, and Ukraine, with several papers focusing on 19th–20th century research into the Trypillia–Cucuteni cultural unity.

A memorial conference volume for Fedir Vovk brings together archival publications and historiographic studies charting archaeology’s institutional and intellectual development across Eastern and Western Europe. Several contributions specifically revisit how the Trypillia–Cucuteni cultural unity was investigated from the 19th to the 20th century.

Published documents from personal archive of Fedir Vovk, including Cirriculum Vitae. Articles, dedicated to history of Archaeology exposed the wide picture of devepomment of this science at Poland, Rusia, France, Romania, and, of course, at Ukraine. Part of them (S. Enea, N. Richard, V. Sokyrska, M. Sokhatsky, O. Tarabylin,N. Burdo, M. Videiko) throwing light on investigations of Trypillia-Cucuteni cultural unity at XIX-XX centuries.
